Uruguay: Next auction in the bands 900 MHz, 1900 MHz and 1700-2100 MHz
The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining in Uruguay issued two decrees on 22 November:
-Decree 461 repealing the Decree 533/007 and authorizing the allocation of use of radio frequency in the bands 900 MHz and 1900 MHz
-Decree 462 authorizing the allocation of use of radio frequencies in the range of 1725-1770 MHz paired with the range of 2125 to 2170 MHz
In both orders, it is communicated the need to assign the above bands for the provision of broadband communications services, thus the allocation through competitive procedures of the following bands is authorized:
- 900 MHz Band: from 904.5 to 909.5 MHz and from 949.5 to 954.5 MHz
- 1900 MHz Band: from 1870 to 1875 MHz, 1875 to 1880 MHz, 1890 to 1895 MHz, 1950 to 1955 MHz, 1955 to 1960 MHz and 1970 to 1075 MHz
- 1700MHz-2100MHz Band: from 1725 to 1770 paired with the range of 2125 to 2170 MHz
URSEC (Unidad Reguladora de Servicios de Comunicaciones) has to develop the publication of the terms and conditions of the competitive process within the period of 30 days from the publication date of the decrees. The procedure for licensing will be made within 45 days from the approval of the terms and conditions.
Once the entire procedure is completed, the rights of use of frequencies is 20 years.
The decrees are available on the website of the Presidency whose links can be found above.
