The last 3 of May the Roskomnadzor, the regulatory body for communication in Russia, launched a Notice of Tender Nº 1/2012 for the right to obtain licenses on Long Term Evolution (LTE) in the 791-862 MHz frequency band.
The tender started the last 20 of May and offers four lots of 2×7.5MHz nationwide spectrum:
- 791 – 798.5 / 832 – 839.5 MHz
- 798.5 – 806 / 839.5 – 847 MHz
- 806 – 813.5 / 847 – 854.5 MHz
- 813.5 – 821 / 854.5 – 862 MHz
The reception of the applications ends on 14 of June and the winners are expected to be announced on 12 of July.
Applications from OJSC Mobile TeleSystems (RTS: MTTS) (MTS), OJSC Megafon (RTS: MEGF) and OJSC Vimpelcom (RTS: VIMP) have been accepted for the time being.
